ST. LOUIS – A local softball team will honor the loss of their teammate while playing for the national championships in Florida later this month. 15-year-old Kendall Johnson, a Parkway West High student died in a boating crash on Table Rock Lake last weekend.  

 

 

Johnson was part of the St. Louis Heat 04 Zimmer, a select softball team. The team is heading to Destin, Florida for the USSSA Championships. There will be a field dedicated to Kendall. Her teammates will line the fence with posters remembering their friend. The team also will wear new green jerseys with KJ6 embroidered on a red heart on the sleeve. The team created a GoFundMe account to help with costs associated to her death. 

She also played for the Chesterfield Lady Falcons Hockey Team. The team’s Twitter page posted a condolence with a picture of hockey sticks and a candle with the hashtag #sticksoutforkendall. 

Kendall died when a boat hit her just moments after dropping her and 6 others off to go swimming. The crash happened in the Breezy Point area of Table Rock Lake. The Missouri Highway Patrol says a 16-year-old Ballwin boy was also injured in the crash. You can read more on that investigation here.
