ST. LOUIS – Construction is underway on several broadband expansion projects in the area. The work will bring gigabit fiber-optic network Spectrum service to more than 1,150 homes and small businesses in Jefferson, St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve Counties.

The work is part of Spectrum’s nearly $5 billion investment in unserved rural areas. The investment includes $1.2 billion won in the FCC’s Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) auction. The FCC estimates the expansion will provide broadband access to nearly 1 million customer locations across 24 states.

The services are expected to be available beginning in the next several months. Customers can choose from Spectrum Internet Gig, featuring download speed up to 1 Gbps, as well as Spectrum Internet service, with download speeds starting at 200 Mbps.

Spectrum Internet Assist will also be available. This service is the company’s low-cost broadband service for qualifying families and seniors.

Brown said it is “an investment that will ensure families and businesses can participate fully in the digital world, now and well into the future.”
