ST. LOUIS– Missouri went to the polls Tuesday to elect city council members and school boards, and decided several municipal ballot questions ranging from school bonds to sales taxes.

St. Louis County voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition B, which would amend the county charter to require that the County Executive hold no other employment or work as an independent contractor while in office. It passed with 61 percent of the vote. The current County Executive, Dr. Sam Page, has been criticized for his work as an anesthesiologist with a practice connected to Mercy Hospital.

Voters struck down a new use tax on out-of-state internet purchases in St. Louis County and most municipalities where it was on the ballot. 58 percent of St. Louis County voters said no to that issue.

It passed in Shrewsbury and Webster Groves but voters in cities like Ballwin, Ellisville, Jennings, Manchester, Town and Country, Cottleville, and St. Peters struck it down among others.

In a pair of St. Louis County school districts that have reached provisional accreditation, voters had the chance to elect board members who will ultimately have local control over the districts. In the Normandy Schools Collaborative, voters elected Christopher Petty and Harlan Hodge, who will join the current board, the rest of which consists of members appointed by the State Board of Education. Voters in the Riverview School District elected Niketia Coleman and Wanda Lane, who will now join that district’s state-appointed board. Winning candidates will serve a three-year term.

In the city of St. Louis, voters passed Proposition R, which would take drawing new ward boundaries out of the hands of the Board of Aldermen and make it the responsibility of an independent commission. It would also require Aldermen to disclose personal or financial conflicts of interest.

There were also many other school board positions decided. You can see all the results here:
