ST. LOUIS – St. Louis is getting ready for one of its biggest parties of the year. The event has grown so much in the past there will be new event and one of the popular parties is getting a new home.
The Mayor’s Ball will have a new location after celebrating for 19 years at City Hall. Organizers say the Ball has stretched its limits at City Hall and due to its growth, a new venue was needed. The event will move a few blocks west to St. Louis Union Station. This charitable event is hosted by the Mardi Gras Foundation, and proceeds benefit Community Improvement Grants. To date, the Ball has funded $600,000 in grants to Soulard and Downtown
Also new for 2022, the fun will continue after the Grand Parade with Rue du Cirque street party. It will be emceed by Dre’co, feature games, prized, and live music from St. Louis native Steve Ewing. There will even be an opportunity to break the world record for the largest game of Flip Cup. The street party will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on South 7th Street at Soulard Street. The event is free.
Mardi Gras brings thousands to town, nearly 25% of which are not from St. Louis. The event also generates about $20 million dollars for the local economy.
