NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Metro Nashville Police Department said the body of Riley Strain was recovered Friday morning from the Cumberland River in West Nashville, approximately eight miles from downtown.

The missing 22-year-old University of Missouri student disappeared on March 8 after being kicked out of a Nashville bar just before 10 p.m. The bar said Strain only had one alcoholic drink and two waters while there.

A massive search on land, water and air began to find Strain. The student’s bank card was found last weekend on the banks of the Cumberland River and authorities were able to use surveillance footage to track his last moments.

On Friday, workers on the Cumberland River found Strain's body and called authorities around 7:28 a.m. Police said there were no signs of foul play.

Strain had on the same shirt and the watch when he was last seen.

The family has been noticed, police said. An autopsy will take place Friday.

The AP reports that University of Missouri officials said in a statement that Strain was traveling to Nashville to attend a private event.

The investigation is ongoing. The story will be updated as more information becomes available.
