A Corinna man was killed Tuesday in a crash on Interstate 95 In Pittsfield, police said.

State police started to receive calls about a driver headed north on I-95 southbound in Burnham, State Police Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte stated in a news release.

“Minutes later, as troopers were en route to intercept the vehicle, reports of a head-on crash came in at mile 147 in Pittsfield,” Turcotte stated. 

A 2013 Ford Focus driven by Ivan Cunningham, 82, of Corinna, struck head-on a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to Turcotte.

“Cunningham was pronounced dead at the scene,” Turcotte stated.

The driver of the Ford was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with injuries not considered life-threatening.

I-95 southbound was closed at Exit 150 for about two hours as a result of the crash, Tucotte said.
