The search for an Augusta man who allegedly assaulted his parents on Friday -- and who officials say is armed and dangerous -- continued into Monday.

Augusta police responded at 1 p.m. Friday, July 5, to 480 Riverside Drive for a report of a domestic assault.

Justin M. Larrabbee, 40, of Augusta, allegedly assaulted his mother and father, according to a news release from Augusta police.

“Larrabee displayed a firearm, made threats against his family and then he fled the residence before police could arrive,” the release stated.

His vehicle was located, but Larrabee has not yet been found. Police closed off the area during their search. Riverside Drive was reopened to motorists at 2 a.m. Saturday and a shelter-in-place order was lifted.

Police still had not found Larrabee as of Monday, and are asking people to report any sightings immediately.

Those with information as to Larrabee’s whereabouts should call police at (207) 626-2370, ext. 0.

"Larrabee is currently wanted for multiple crimes, however his current whereabouts are still not known," police stated in an update issued Monday. "We are asking that the community continue to be safe and report any possible sightings of Larrabee to the police. The Augusta Police and Maine State Police continue to check on all leads being provided to us by the public.

The update continued: "Although Larrabee has not made any threats towards anyone else outside of those made towards his family, we still consider him dangerous. If you see Larrabee please contact the police, please do not attempt to detain, or approach him."

According to police, Larrabee is wanted for two counts of domestic violence assault as well as domestic violence criminal threatening, aggravated criminal mischief, obstructing the reporting of a crime, violating conditions of release and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

The Kennebec Journal reported that Larrabee is the same person charged with defacing Augusta’s police memorial over the 2023 Memorial Day weekend.

The memorial at the State Capitol complex, which honors 88 officers who died in the line of duty, was defaced with red spray paint.
