Maine added 569 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday and announced two new deaths as hospitalizations continued to creep upward.
There are now 132 people hospitalized with the virus in Maine, including 27 in critical care and five on ventilators. Hospitalizations are at their highest point since early March.
The positive test rate in the state is also on the rise, topping 11% as of this week.
The two people reported to have died Tuesday were both in their 80s, from Cumberland and Knox counties. One was male and one was female.
Maine’s death toll since the pandemic began stands at 2,282. There have been 242,602 cases to date.
The statewide vaccination rate is just under 78%. It remains highest in Cumberland County, at nearly 89%, and lowest in Somerset County, at just over 63%.
