The Maine Center for Disease Control reported five additional COVID-19 deaths and 454 new cases on Tuesday, the first report on cases and deaths since the weekend.
There are currently 94 people hospitalized with the virus in Maine, including 17 in critical care and four on ventilators.
The people most recently reported to have died include four men and one woman. Three were in their 60s and two were over 80. Two were from Androscoggin County, two from Aroostook County and one from Waldo County.
The state has now seen 2,200 coronavirus deaths and 235,293 cases since the pandemic began.
The state’s positive test rate fell to its lowest point since last August on Monday, at 2.4%. The state received just over 2,000 new coronavirus test results for processing.
