A Lewiston man was arrested Monday in connection with two robberies at the Auburn BJ’s Wholesale Club store, and police say it was his facial tattoos that gave him away.
Police were called to the store at 110 Mount Auburn Ave. for a robbery in progress at 7:11 p.m.
“A white male with facial tattoos had reportedly pulled a metal pipe from under his sleeve when store employees attempted to stop him from leaving with a cart full of stolen merchandise,” police stated. “The male fled in a waiting vehicle.”
Officers identified the suspect as Jeremy Proctor, 38, of Lewiston, “in part due to his unique tattoos,” police stated.
Lewiston police found Proctor shortly before 10 p.m. on Pine Street in Lewiston, police said. Auburn officers responded and arrested him.
A similar robbery at the same BJ’s occurred March 16, where the suspect allegedly brandished a knife while attempting to steal merchandise, police said.
“Proctor has been identified as the suspect in that crime as well,” police stated.
Proctor has been charged with two counts of robbery, Class A; violation of conditions of release, Class E; and criminal mischief, Class D, police stated.
Proctor was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail. No bail was allowed due to Proctor having active bail conditions for a previous felony theft that took place in Lewiston, according to police.
