A Bridgton man accused of a July 4 shooting in Naples that injured a juvenile has been arrested, police say.

Alexander Goodwin, 18, was taken into custody without incident on Park Avenue in Portland Thursday at 2:30 p.m., according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

According to police, Goodwin allegedly fired five shots from a 9 mm handgun as the victim and his family gathered for a July 4 fireworks display on the Route 302 causeway in Naples by Long Lake.

The wounded juvenile was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life threatening injuries.

The fireworks display was canceled because of the shooting.

Goodwin was charged with elevated aggravated assault Class A and reckless conduct Class D.

Class A crimes are punishable by up to 30 years incarceration and a $50,000 fine. Class D crimes carry a sentence of up to one year and a $2,000 fine.
