A strong high pressure system north of the islands will continue to produce gusty winds and large-breaking waves through Saturday.

What You Need To Know

  • Winds won't be as strong on Saturday, but some of the islands could still see powerful gusts

  • Gusts could still reach over 50 mph for portions of the Big Island, Maui, Molokai and Lanai

  • High surf and dangerous currents remain an issue for all the islands

Even though winds are not expected to be as powerful, portions of the Big Island, Maui, Molokai and Lanai remain under a Wind Advisory through Saturday evening for the potential of gusts still reaching over 50 mph.

Strong winds could continue to make travel difficult, in addition to blowing around loose items. They could also tear shingles off of houses and bring down tree branches and power lines, which could contribute to power outages.

Stay aware of your surroundings when outside, as blowing objects could be dangerous.

With decently strong winds staying intact, surf will also remain rough through Saturday evening.

As a result, High Surf Warnings remain in effect for each of the island's east/northeast-facing shores through Saturday evening. Surf will build to 10 to 15 feet through today. Powerful currents will also be an issue.
