The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation announced a full roster of fall classes and programs offered at city parks and botanical gardens that the public can sign up for starting Monday, Aug. 21, according to a news release.


What You Need To Know

  • Interested individuals can view a catalog of over 320 park and botanical garden activities listed on the Parks and Recreation Online System

  • Registration for city parks activities run Aug. 21 through Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. (see the schedule)

  • Registration for botanical gardens September through October classes starts Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.

 

All ages are invited to choose from a variety of free and paid activities that include archery, aerobics, arts and crafts, basketball, board and card games, ceramics, flag football, gymnastics, kupuna exercises, paddleboarding, snorkeling, surfing, swimming, volleyball, Zumba and more.

Registration is based on the park district and according to the following times:

  • District 1 (808-768-8944) - Ka Iwi to Waikiki - Monday, Aug. 21 at 5 p.m.
  • District 2 (808-768-9292) - Makiki to Aiea - Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 5 p.m.
  • District 3 (808-768-6889) - Waipahu to Makaha - Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.
  • District 4 (808-768-8980) - Mokuleia to Makapuu - Thursday, Aug. 24 at 5 p.m.
  • District 5 (808-768-6940) - Pearl City to Whitmore - Friday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m.

Individuals without access to a computer can register in-person at the respective district from 5 to 7 p.m. according to the days noted above. Call the number to coordinate a time.

Honolulu botanical gardens will also host classes such as bracelet weaving, composting, gardening and wreath making during two fall sessions:

  • Session 1 - September to October - registration begins Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.
  • Session 2 - November to December - registration begins Oct. 23 at 9 a.m.

For those without computer access, call the botanical garden staff at 808-768-7135 to register.

Only Visa and MasterCard are accepted for online payments. In-person payments can be made either in cash or by check.
