HONOLULU — Starting Monday, the City and County of Honolulu’s moped, bicycle and business license office will operate out of the Kapalama Driver Licensing Center.

From Monday, moped and bicycle owners can walk in without an appointment and get their registrations on the spot. Pawnbrokers, firearm dealers, peddlers and other businesses requesting licenses to operate legally in the City and County of Honolulu can also walk in without an appointment. Business licenses will be mailed to applicants.

These services are moving from an office trailer under the H-1 freeway and will be designated to windows 16 and 17 at the Kapalama Driver Licensing Center located at 925 Dillingham Blvd. in Kalihi.

“We have outgrown our Kapahulu office and will be moving to better accommodate our expansion needs as well as to position us to meet continued public demand into the future to register mopeds, bicycles and businesses,” said Kim Hashiro, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services, in a release.

Public demand for the services exceeded 30,000 transactions over the past 12 months. The number also includes a record number of moped registrations on Oahu; the total exceeded 8,800 during the same time period. This demand prompted the decision to relocate the services to better meet public demand.
