HONOLULU — Running back Seth Miller led the Pac-Five football team to a special place on Friday: the end zones at Eddie Hamada Field.
Historically, those areas of the turf at Iolani’s Kozuki Stadium have been free of Wolfpack players in what has been a comically lopsided series. But the senior Miller altered the punchline in dramatic fashion by scoring all of his team's four touchdowns in a 26-14 win over the Raiders in Interscholastic League of Honolulu play on Friday afternoon.
It was Pac-Five’s first-ever win at Iolani, and first success anywhere against the Raiders since 2007 (most meetings occurred at Aloha Stadium before it was shuttered in 2020). It snapped a streak of 18 losses in the series, according to Hawaii Prep World.
Miller carried the ball 37 times for a program-record 258 yards, per stats tallied by ScoringLive, and touchdowns of 5, 7 and 4 yards. He also caught a scoring pass from quarterback Braden Sarahina for 53 yards in the second quarter.
Pac-Five led 12-0 following a fumble-filled first half in stifling heat. Iolani drew to within a score in the third quarter thanks to Jones Vierra’s 1-yard plunge, but the Wolfpack responded with a touchdown drive featuring a lengthy midfield run by Miller followed by a TD plunge to open the fourth. He scored again in the game's waning minutes to punctuate the victory.
Pac-Five, coached by Kena Heffernan, is 5-0 (3-0 ILH) for the first time since 1982, when the amalgam of small private schools went 11-0-1. It faces Damien at 6 p.m. Friday at Radford.
Wendell Look’s Raiders dropped to 3-5 (2-2 ILH) with Saint Louis II up next on Oct. 11.
