HONOLULU, Hawaii — The Los Angeles Clippers have finally moved out of their rental at Crypto.com Arena and into their new, permanent home, the $2 billion Intuit Dome.

While the historically nomadic franchise is experiencing change, the Clippers made sure to keep one thing consistent during their crosstown relocation: training camp in Hawaii.

The Clippers announced on Tuesday they will play the Golden State Warriors in an exhibition on Oct. 5 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center to cap a week of preseason activity at the University of Hawaii-Manoa Lower Campus.

It will be the fifth time since 2017 and the second straight year that the Clippers have come to Honolulu. The Warriors, who announced their plans to camp at BYU-Hawaii on Oahu’s North Shore last week, have not been to Hawaii for the preseason since 2007.

Last October, the Clippers sold out their preseason game against the Utah Jazz.

On paper, the upcoming exhibition also packs plenty of star power. Though Los Angeles lost Paul George through free agency, it signed forward Kawhi Leonard to an extension and retained the services of veteran guard James Harden. The Warriors lost Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks, but future Hall of Famers Stephen Curry and Draymond Green still anchor the 2022 NBA title team holdovers.

Both teams are set to arrive on Oct. 1 after holding NBA Media Day at their home bases in California.

Per a Clippers spokesperson, the franchise is expected to send an envoy, including guard Norman Powell, to this weekend’s sporting events at UH: the season-opening Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic on Friday and Sunday and UH football’s Saturday contest against UCLA.

Tickets for Clippers-Warriors in Hawaii have yet to go on sale.
