Jocelyn Alo keeps expanding her horizons.

The former University of Oklahoma softball star from Hauula, Hawaii, recently signed a one-month contract to play with the Savannah Bananas baseball team and had her first hit over the weekend in Fresno, Calif.

It came a few days after Alo, the all-time collegiate softball home run leader, made her debut as the first woman to play for the Bananas in Mesa, Ariz.

“As soon as I got to first, I was (hyped),” Alo told Bananas social media. “I was yelling, ‘Let’s gooo!’ And then I look over to the team, they’re all going nuts. And it just made me even more lit. It was a great moment to remember. Probably top three moments I’ve ever had. You can do anything you set your mind to. Don’t let anyone ever tell you you can’t.”

The Bananas are a traveling team known for their humorous antics, something of a baseball exhibition version of the Harlem Globetrotters. The Bananas regularly take on a team called the Party Animals.

Alo signed with Athletes Unlimited in April and will play in AU’s Pro Softball AUX series in Wichita, Kan., from June 10 to 25.

She is also a member of the professional softball franchise Oklahoma City Spark.

Former University of Hawaii pitcher Andy Archer also plays for the Bananas and has used his island experience to comedic effect with his teammates.
