University of Hawaii alumnus Kolten Wong has been signed to a minor league deal by the Los Angeles Dodgers, national outlets reported this weekend.

Wong was designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners at the trade deadline, bringing his disappointing one-year tenure with the franchise to an end. He was hitting .165 with two homers and 19 RBIs in 67 games in 2023.

Wong, 32, respected for his defense at second base with his former MLB teams St. Louis and Milwaukee, could have an opportunity in the Dodgers’ middle infield. Los Angeles leads the NL West by 11.5 games as of Sunday and has the second-best record in the NL at 76-47, but it has employed outfielder Mookie Betts at second for stretches of the season, ESPN noted.

Wong is expected to report to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
