With its finest blocking performance of the season, the Hawaii men’s volleyball team made it 2-for-2 at Cal State Northridge and 7-for-7 on the road in 2023.
The Rainbow Warriors recorded 13.5 stuffs at Premier America Credit Union Arena on Saturday and swept the Matadors for the second straight day, this time 25-17, 25-18, 25-15.
Opposite Dimitrios Mouchlias led the way with 13 kills and just one error on 23 swings, hitting .522. Chaz Galloway added seven kills and Guilherme Voss and Spyros Chakas added six apiece.
Galloway had two of UH’s four solo blocks and had the walk-off ace for the match. Chakas had a well-rounded game with four aces, four block assists and four digs. Setter Jakob Thelle guided the team to a .392 hitting percentage.
UH (20-2, 3-1 Big West) recorded the 12th 20-win season in program history and moved into a tie for second place in the BWC with Long Beach State heading into next week’s two-match series at UC Santa Barbara (5-13, 1-4).
CSUN (12-9, 1-3) hit just .085. Its top option, Kyle Hobus, committed 11 attack errors to eight kills in hitting negative-.097.
