WAIPAHU, Hawaii — Saturday night’s Division I and II title matches of the Motiv8 Foundation/HHSAA girls’ soccer championships have been moved from Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium to nearby Waipahu High School due to weather concerns.
The HHSAA announced the move Saturday morning, relocating the 5 and 7 p.m. matches from the WPSS grass pitch to Waipahu’s turf field because of heavy rain in the forecast.
The TV broadcast on Spectrum OC16 was canceled. A radio broadcast with Hawaii Sports Radio Network is pending.
The Division I final features a rematch of last year’s state final between ILH rivals Kamehameha and Punahou won by the Warriors on penalty kicks. Punahou beat Mililani 1-0 at Pearl City on Friday and Kamehameha dispatched sister school Kamehameha-Maui 2-0.
The Division II match at 5 p.m. is between Kapaa and defending champion Pac-Five. Kapaa is going for the first title for a KIF school in the sport.
Also Saturday, the University of Hawaii baseball alumni game was rained out.
