HONOLULU — The Mountain West Conference unveiled its conference schedule for the 2022 football season on Wednesday, revealing the complete home and away matchups for first-year Hawaii coach Timmy Chang.
UH’s full 13-game schedule includes seven contests at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex, which will be in its second season as the Rainbow Warriors’ official home venue.
UH had already put out its nonconference schedule including the Week 0 opener at home against Vanderbilt on Aug. 27 and a game against Michigan at the Big House on Sept. 10.
“Mark your calendars! Count down is officially on,” Chang tweeted with UH football’s announcement of the full slate.
The eight-game Mountain West schedule begins Oct. 8 at San Diego State. The Aztecs won the MWC West Division in 2021 and were runners-up to the Utah State Aggies, who won the MWC title game 46-13.
UH’s 2022 Mountain West home games are Nevada (Oct. 15); Wyoming (Oct. 29); Utah State (Nov. 12); and San Jose State (Nov. 26).
The MWC away games are SDSU; Colorado State (Oct. 22); Fresno State (Nov. 5); and San Jose State (Nov. 26).
The MWC championship game will be held Dec. 3.
A few notes on the schedule:
- Former UH starting quarterback Chevan Cordeiro's new team, San Jose State, gets UH at home in the regular-season finale.
- Vanderbilt is the first Southeastern Conference opponent UH will host since Alabama in 2003, and will be the fourth SEC opponent to play here in program history.
- UH’s road trip to Michigan is UH’s second trip to Ann Arbor since 2016; the Rainbow Warriors lost the last meeting 63-3.
- Duquesne will be the 14th Football Championship Subdivision opponent UH has hosted in 16 years. UH has a 17-game winning streak versus FBS teams going back to 2001.
- UH will face New Mexico State for the third time in two seasons.
