HONOLULU — Mayor Rick Blangiardi is taking to the podwaves.
Blangiardi will co-host "The One Oahu Podcast with Mayor Rick Blangiardi" weekly with information officer and former KITV sports director Brandi Higa. The first episode will be available at oneoahu.org/podcast and other streaming platforms starting Thursday.
Blangiardi, who entered public service with experience as a sports color commentator, broadcast station manager and occasional on-air opiner, will join with other city and county leaders to address topics ranging from public safety to affordable housing to Honolulu’s high cost of living.
“I’m looking forward to using this additional platform to engage our residents by providing them with reliable context about how the city operates and relevant updates on key policy initiatives,” Blangiardi said. “It will allow for members of our community to stay connected to what’s happening in the City. The title of this podcast is One Oahu for a reason, because we are all in this together.”
The public is invited to submit questions via the podcast site for the mayor and his guests to answer.
In addition to the website, listeners can also subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, TuneIn, Podbean, Podchaser and PlayerFM.
Thursday’s inaugural episode will include Blangiardi discussing his affordable housing strategy.
