This year’s annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk on May 3 will feature a new addition for the first time ever — an ADA-accessible route championed by official partner AccesSurf.
The new Laulima Loop is a 0.6-mile walking route around Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park available to individuals with disabilities, families with strollers and any individual who prefers an accessible way to participate. There’s no cut-off date to register to walk the loop; those who wish to participate are welcome to join anytime.
“AccesSurf is excited to participate in Charity Walk once again and excited that the Charity Walk is introducing a shorter ADA-accessible route for our community members,” said AccesSurf Executive Director Cara Short in a release. “It’s a big step forward in making this beloved community event inclusive for everyone.”
Opening remarks for the Laulima Loop portion of the 2025 Charity Walk will be at 7 a.m. with a start time of 7:30 a.m. The official Charity Walk begins at 7 a.m.
“We are very pleased that AccesSurf has stepped up to the plate to introduce an ADA-accessible option so that more people can participate and enjoy the Charity Walk. The Laulima Loop is indeed an exciting new addition,” said HLTA President and CEO Mufi Hannemann.
Walkers who raise over $500 will be eligible to enter a prize drawing with prizes from Southwest Airlines and Embassy Suites.
ADA parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will also be complimentary poi mochi donuts courtesy of Liliha Bakery at the AccesSurf tent.
Registration is still open for the Oahu Charity Walk, as well as for Laulima Loop (scroll down). Teams can register using this form.
Kauai’s Charity Walk will be held on the same day as Oahu. Charity Walks on Maui and Hawaii Island are scheduled for May 10.
The Visitor Industry Charity Walk is one of the state’s largest fundraising events, uniting those in the hospitality industry and the community for a good cause. Every dollar raised in the respective counties stays in the county, directly benefiting the local community.
