Early Wednesday at roughly 4:30 a.m., officers from the Kauai Police Department responded to a “disorderly complaint” at Lihue Airport after receiving a request for assistance from Airport Law Enforcement Officers regarding a disorderly male.

According to a statement provided by the Hawaii Department of Transportation, LEOs had responded to reports of a male displaying disruptive behavior in the ticket lobby of Lihue Airport’s main terminal after which a struggle ensued on the road between the terminal and the public parking lot.

According to a KPD release, police officers arrived on the scene where the man was being detained by two LEOs and an airline employee. They found the man in need of immediate medical assistance and began administering CPR along with a dose of Naloxone (Narcan).

Emergency medical personnel arrived and continued advanced resuscitation efforts while transporting the man to Wilcox Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have identified the deceased man as 53-year-old Harley Morris, who has no known address. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

The incident is being investigated.
