The Maui Emergency Management Agency alerts Maui residents and visitors to a multi-agency, full-scale training exercise taking place from 6 a.m. Thursday at Bayer Facility located on Piilani Highway.
The 93rd Civil Support Team training will involve MEMA; Maui Fire Department; Maui Police Department; Emergency Medical Services; and the Hawaii National Guard’s 93rd Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Team.
MEMA says the exercise will not pose any risk to the public or environment and is designed just for training purposes. There may be noise caused by the exercise.
Collaborating agencies will take part in a variety of emergency situations, including active shooter scenarios, casualty management, drug lab incidents, HAZMAT (hazardous materials) and CBRN response.
The goal is to enhance the readiness and coordination of all agencies responding to any emergency situation.
No live ammunition or simulated live rounds will be used; only blanks will be deployed. No live or lethal chemical or biological agents will be used in the training, according to MEMA.
Anyone with questions or for more information, contact MEMA at 808-270-7285.
