The Honolulu Police Department arrested two people in connection with the deadly New Year’s Eve fireworks explosion in Aliamanu.
A 33-year-old man, Ruben T. Mateo, and a 33-year-old woman, Jewel Ann Quines Cabras, were arrested on Friday afternoon for reckless endangering, endangering the welfare of a minor and multiple fireworks offenses. HPD didn’t release the names in a Facebook post about the arrests, but arrest logs showed their names and offenses.
HPD said more arrests are expected.
The New Year’s Eve fireworks explosion killed at least four people, including a 3-year-old boy, and seriously injured 20 others.
