On Saturday, a contingent of Hawaii girl scouts attended Cookie University held at the American Savings Bank Campus Branch for a day of training to sell their popular cookies.
The training included opportunities to meet with financial, sales, customer service and media professionals who passed on their knowledge and skills to the next generation of cookie entrepreneurs operating “the largest girl-led business in the world,” according to a release. Five of the skills these girl scouts learn are setting goals, making decisions, managing money, people skills and business ethics.
Cookie season is now through March with preorders available and booths popping up at stores starting Feb. 21. Once cookie booths are ready, click here to find the one nearest you. You can also use Digital Cookie to order cookies from a Girl Scout you know. Every box of cookies purchased provides experiences for Girl Scouts from community service projects to troop travel.
There are a total of 12 flavors, three of which are the top favorites — Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites and Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs. Two cookie flavors will be discontinued after this season.
Girl Scouts of Hawaii has its headquarters on Oahu and supports over 4,000 girls and adults statewide. For more information, visit their website or call 808-595-8400.
