The Department of Planning and Permitting’s ePlans upgrade is being extended through Jan. 21 after running into data migration issues, according to the department.

The upgrade, scheduled to last from 1 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, requires more time due to the amount of data that needs to be upgraded and the complexity of the upgrade itself.

Until the upgrade is complete, the system will not be available to the public and DPP staff will not be able to access ePlans.

This second major upgrade is needed to improve the 13-year-old electronic permit review system, according to DPP.

The first upgrade to the 9.2 version completed in late July of last year significantly improved ePlans, which originally launched in 2012 and was last upgraded in 2019.

The 9.4 version will make it easier for plan reviewers to add notations and comments to files and ask questions directed to applicants and plan makers. Because the new version is geared more towards internal plan reviewers, the public won’t notice significant changes to ePlans.

According to DPP, the upgrade is one of several planned to ease the permit application process and allow applicants to track their permits in real time.
