The City and County of Honolulu is hosting a public auction of abandoned and unclaimed vehicles on Wednesday and Thursday.
Towed and unclaimed vehicles are periodically sold by auction as is, sold as junk, disposed of, or donated to a governmental agency, according to the Department of Customer Services.
Here is a list of the vehicles that will be sold “as is.” Before the auction, vehicles may be viewed by making an appointment with the tow company.
The auction for law enforcement towed vehicles will begin on Wednesday at 8 a.m. The auction for vehicles towed as abandoned will begin on Thursday at 8 a.m. Both auctions will close at 10 a.m. each respective day.
The auction will take place online via the city’s Vendor Self Service system. The minimum bid for each vehicle is $50. The buyer will be required to pay all towing, storage and other expenses incurred at the close of the bid, which range from $712.5 to $13,557.50. If the buyer does not pay all expenses, this will be cause for disqualification. Buyers may pay with cash, money order, or cashier’s check from a local bank, credit union or financial institution, made payable to City and County of Honolulu and preprinted by the issuing institution. Lastly, transfer of ownership must be recorded within 30 days of the auction or a transfer fee penalty of $60 will be charged.
