The Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park and Oceanit Laboratories, Inc., with support from Kauai County, are seeking to engage the community to discuss a breakwater maintenance project at Morgan’s Ponds.

A community meeting will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai’s Conservatory Room. The Hilton Garden Inn Kauai is located adjacent to Lydgate Beach Park at 3-5920 Kuhio Highway in Kapaa.

The meeting will involve a discussion of options for a long-term maintenance plan to preserve Morgan’s Ponds, its shoreline and its breakwater.

The Dec. 7 meeting is a follow-up to the initial open house “talk story” session held July 20 at Lydgate Beach Park. The development of alternative plans for the project arose from the ideas gathered at the open house and will be presented for discussion at the upcoming community meeting.
