Laie will be the first stop of Hōkūleʻa’s Pae ʻĀina Statewide Sail on Oahu. The voyaging canoe is set to arrive on Saturday at Hukilau Bay where the community is invited to join the arrival and welcoming event scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and last through 2 p.m.

Prior to her arrival, the crew has already been busy visiting students at Laie, Kaʻaʻawa and Hauʻula Elementary Schools throughout the week. On Thursday, they held a panel presentation for the community at BYU’s Hawaii Little Theater.

After Hukilau Bay, the journey continues with a stop at Mokapu through Dec. 5 and the following stops into 2025, pending weather conditions:

  • Nov. 24 to Dec. 5 - Mokapu
  • Dec. 5 to 7 - Moku o Loe
  • Dec. 7 to 16 - Heeia Kea
  • Dec. 16 to 18 - Kailua
  • Dec. 18 to 20 - Waimanalo
  • Dec. 20 - Mauli Ola (Sand Island)
  • Jan. 18 to 24 - Puuloa (Pearl Harbor)
  • Jan. 29 to Feb. 4 - Ko Olina
  • Feb. 5 to 7 - Pokai Bay, Waianae
  • Feb. 8 to 14 - Maunalua (Hawaii Kai and Koko Marina)
  • Feb. 15 - return to Mauli Ola

The mission of the Pae ʻĀina Statewide Sail is to engage island communities in cultural and educational experiences and exchanges focused on mālama honua, caring for our island Earth. The seven-month interisland voyage will cover 3,000 miles, stopping at 31 ports and interacting with 34 communities before Hōkūleʻa and Hikiananlia resume their Moananuiākea Circumnavigation of the Pacific in March 2025.
