The Hawaii Department of Transportation is advising motorists to avoid all Kailua-bound lanes on Kailua Road between Kalanianaole Highway and Uluoa Street, as all those lanes are closed.

At 4:28 p.m., DOT announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the left Kailua-bound lane of Kailua Road between Kalanianaole Highway and Uluoa Street has been reopened. Uluoa Street at the gas station remains closed. 

Earlier, the agency posted that its crews were working to clear the road to reopen by 5 p.m.

At 12:53 p.m., DOT posted to its X (formerly Twitter) account that a semi brought down seven utility poles on Kailua Road just past Castle Hospital in the Kailua-bound direction.
