The public is invited to attend a virtual public meeting to preview and provide feedback on proposed changes to city regulations of electric mobility devices such as electric bicycles, scooters, skateboards, dirt bikes and others.

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Transportation and Honolulu Complete Streets is hosting the meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday via Zoom.

DTS has assembled a working group to identify areas where new or revised regulations are needed to keep Oahu streets safe.

The group has already made recommendations for City Council Bill 52 and made additional future revisions to the Revised Ordinances of Honolulu that includes helmet requirements, device registration, regulating where devices can be ridden, and appropriate riding behavior, according to a news release. It has also recommended revisions to state law (Hawaii Revised Statutes) with the Department of Transportation and the Hawaii State Legislature.

The meeting on Thursday is an opportunity for the public to share feedback on the changes currently under consideration.
