HONOLULU — On Tuesday, the Department of Health issued a red “closed” placard to Café Duck Butt after inspectors discovered the karaoke bar and grill lacked electricity, which made it unable to power refrigerators needed to keep food safe to consume.
The following day, inspectors went again to the Korean food spot, at 901 Kawaiahao Street, and issued a green “open” placard after confirming that power was restored, according to a release.
DOH advised the food establishment that refrigeration equipment must always be operational.
The DOH Food Safety Branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food is prepared, manufactured, distributed or sold in order to protect the health of Hawaii residents and visitors.
