The Maui Fire Department says the brushfire near Molokai Airport is 60% contained at about 100 acres as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
The MFD first received a 911 call for the fire on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
The Maui Police Department was going door-to-door to homes in the area, informing residents of an evacuation. Evacuations were being conducted as a precautionary measure, according to MFD officials. By 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the voluntary evacuation advisory was canceled.
The fire consumed one structure and one vehicle, according to MFD. No injuries have been reported and there are no active threats.
Firefighters continues to mop up and strengthen containment lines around the fire.
Maunaloa Highway and Puupeelua Avenue have been reopened.
The public is asked to avoid the area to allow fire personnel to safely work.
The MFD is investigating the cause of the fire.
