HONOLULU — Gov. Josh Green has appointed former state deputy director of finance Roderick Becker to fill a vacancy on the Hawaii State Ethics Commission created by the death of commissioner Harry McCarthy in January.

Becker has experience in budgeting state resources as staff of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means Committee and as deputy director of finance and in government processes such as state procurements and expending state funds as the state comptroller and in his current position as the State Department of Budget and Finance’s financial administration division administrator.

The volunteer Hawaii State Ethics Commission is responsible for administering and enforcing the state ethics code and lobbyist law. Commissioners are appointed by the governor from nominations submitted by the Judicial Council and serve four-year terms.
