HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation alerts motorists to paving work being done on Kamehameha Highway between Pali Highway and Likelike Highway starting Sept. 16.

Crews will work on one lane at a time beginning in front of Servco Toyota in the Kailua-bound direction with the following schedule for the rest of the week. All work takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Sept 16 to 17 — Kailua-bound right turn lane will be closed with traffic allowed to turn right at the intersection
  • Sept. 18 — Right lane will be closed
  • Sept. 19 — Middle lane will be closed
  • Sept. 20 — Left lane and left-turn lane will be closed with a detour to the next U-turn on Kamehameha Highway

Crews will pave the Kaneohe-bound side of Kamehameha Highway the following week, weather permitting. Work will then continue at the intersection of Kamehameha Highway, Likelike Highway and Kaneohe Bay Drive in sections.

The estimated completion date of this segment is Oct. 8 according to HDOT. After the paving work, crews will work on raising/lowering manholes and putting down permanent striping.
