HONOLULU — The color teal will illuminate the Hawaii Convention Center on Sept. 1 in recognition of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. 

The Hawaii Convention Center will join hundreds of landmarks worldwide to honor PCOS Awareness Month in September, according to a news release.  

PCOS is a genetic, hormone, metabolic and reproductive disorder that affects up to 15% of women. It is the leading cause of female infertility. PCOS can lead to anxiety and depression, obesity, endometrial cancer, type 2 diabetes, liver disease and cardiovascular disease.
