HONOLULU — Special Olympics Hawaii partners with Blood Bank of Hawaii to hold a special blood drive during a time when donations usually drop by as much as 15%, according to the Blood Bank.
Drink lots of water and pump up before stopping by the Special Olympics Hawaii Sports and Wellness Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 25. The center is located at 91-610 Maunakapu St. in Ewa Beach.
To donate blood, individuals must be 16 years or older (those 16 to 17 years of age must have a BBH parental consent form), in good health and weight at least 110 pounds. Bring a photo ID with birth date. Register here for the Aug. 25 blood donation event.
A blood donation will also help Special Olympics Hawaii receive funds so they can continue to provide year-round sports trainings, competition and health, wellness and leadership programs free of charge to over 3,400 athletes statewide.
In addition, for every donation made through Aug. 31 at any Blood Bank of Hawaii drive or facility statewide, Blood Bank of Hawaii will make a donation to Special Olympics Hawaii.
All those who donate blood will be automatically entered to win two round-trip Alaska Airlines tickets as part of the Ultimate Summer Gift Sweepstakes.
