HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation alerts all those picking up arriving passengers at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport that the inner road fronting Terminal 2 between Baggage Claims 16 and 29 will be closed for repaving nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Aug. 19 through Aug. 27.

During the closure, all curbside passenger pickups after 9:30 p.m. between Baggage Claims 16 and 31 will be rerouted to the Diamond Head Group Tour Area. Arriving international passengers will be directed to the International Group Tour Area for pickup.

The outer roadway will remain open to through traffic. Vehicles will be diverted from the inner roadway to the outer roadway through a median, starting at the International Arrivals pickup area.

Message boards will alert motorists of the lane closure and direct them to passenger pickup areas. Signs will also be placed throughout the baggage claim area, directing passengers to the Diamond Head Group Tour area.

The repaving work that initially started on July 29 was stopped on Aug. 1 when crews discovered a hole in the substructure of the road caused by a broken pipe that needed to be repaired first.
