HONOLULU — The retaining wall between the parking lot and rocky coastline at popular Sharks Cove (Kapoʻo) at Pupukea Beach Park is set to undergo emergency repairs starting Monday, July 29 due significant deterioration that could compromise public safety and shoreline integrity.

Though access to the ocean and snorkeling spot will remain open throughout the project, the parking lot will be closed, according to the city’s Department of Design and Construction. Pedestrians will be able to access the site on the mauka side.

The city is also working with the Hawaii Department of Transportation to allow access to portions of the Sharks Cove parking lot during the project. Updates will be provided when available.

The two comfort stations and showers are expected to remain open.

Barring any weather or unforeseen circumstances, the project is expected to finish in three months.

The public is directed to contact the DDC at 808-768-8400 with any questions.
