KAPAA, Hawaii — On Tuesday afternoon, Kauai Fire Department crews were dispatched to a brush fire that ignited off Kapaa Bypass Road. The fire is now contained but crews remain on scene to monitor hot spots, according to a news release.

KFD did not report any injuries.

On Tuesday at 3:20 p.m., Kauai Police reopened the entire Kapaa Bypass Road at the north and south entrances at Kuhio Highway. Police also reopened Olohena Road, between the Kaapuni Road junction and the Kapaa Bypass Road roundabout.

KFD investigators are still working to determine the cause of the brush fire.

This fire comes a day after a large wildfire threatened about 200 homes in Hanapepe on Kauai. Late Monday night, authorities said the fire was contained and an evacuation notice was lifted.
