HONOLULU — On Tuesday, the Department of Health issued red “closed” placards to Jack in the Box and Arby's in Waipahu after discovering both fast-food restaurants were operating without running water.

During a routine inspection, an inspector immediately closed both spots after observing they were operating without running water. The lack of running water was caused by a water main break in the area, according to a news release.

The following day, DOH issued green "open" placards for Jack in the Box and Arby's after the Board of Water Supply restored water supply to both establishments.

DOH advised the food establishments to continue monitoring water pressure.

The DOH Food Safety Branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food is prepared, manufactured, distributed or sold in order to protest the health of Hawaii residents and visitors.
