HILO, Hawaii — The participation of Hawaii County’s Department of Parks and Recreation in the Summer Food Service Program (SUN Meals) available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture will provide free meals to all children equally, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, announced the office of Mayor Mitch Roth.
Meals are being provided through July 19 at the following locations:
- Kawānanakoa Gym
- Panaʻewa Gym
- Puʻuʻeo Community Center
- Hilo Armory
- Andrews Gym
- Carvalho Park
- Waiākea Uka Gym
- Honokaʻa Sports Complex
- Pāpaʻikou Gym
- Kulaimano Community Center (6/12-6/28)
- Pāpaʻaloa Community Center (7/2-7/19)
- William “Billy” Kenoi District Park
- Keaʻau Armory
- Richardson Ocean Center
The county advises calling each site daily to ensure the program is serving meals on that day. Sites will not serve meals on excursion days, according to a news release. Contact and other information is available online.
