Starting on April 11, severe weather hit Kauai, causing school, park and road closures, spills at two Wastewater Treatment Plants, multiple rescues and damage to homes and businesses.

Now, the U.S. Small Business Association is alerting businesses and residents to its low-interest federal disaster loans.

“We encourage affected residents and businesses in need of flood recovery assistance to apply for these loans as soon as possible,” said Kauai Emergency Management Agency Administrator Elton Ushio, in a news release.

SBA representatives will be on Kauai starting Thursday for in-person assistance with the application process.

The application deadline for property damage is July 22, 2024. The application deadline for economic injury is Feb. 21, 2025. People may apply online and receive additional information on SBA.gov/disaster

The SBA and Kauai County will also host a Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice.
