HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation has canceled the closure of Ala Moana Boulevard for work on the Ala Moana Pedestrian Bridge deck because of weather.

Work will resume 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. May 19 and 20 with all lanes closed in both directions between Ward Avenue and Kamakee Street. Motorists will be detoured to Auahi Street then can get back to Ala Moana Boulevard via Kamakee Street or Ward Avenue.

In case of another cancellation, work may be scheduled through Friday morning, May 24. Check HDOT on Facebook or Twitter for updates.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation is notifying motorists that lanes on Ala Moana Boulevard between Ward Avenue and Kamakee Street will be closed in one direction at a time, 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. on May 14 and 15.

The full closure is needed to pour concrete for the Ala Moana Pedestrian Bridge deck, according to HDOT.

During the closure, motorists will detour to Auahi Street then can get back onto Ala Moana Boulevard, either via Kamakee Street or Ward Avenue. The sidewalk will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution and follow traffic control signs. Special duty officers will also be onsite. All work is weather permitting.
