KAPAA, Hawaii — The Kauai Fire Department extinguished a structure fire in Kapaa on Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from the Kapaa and Kaiakea fire stations were dispatched to a blaze on Kahuna Road just before 4:50 p.m.
“According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly before 5 p.m., firefighters with the Kaiakea Fire Station discovered a gazebo-like structure fully engulfed in flames on Kahuna Road,” a press release from the County of Kauai said. “Personnel with the Kapa‘a station arrived soon after. The fire was controlled and extinguished using approximately 750 gallons of water. It was determined that flames from the gazebo melted part of the roof of the main residential structure.”
The fire is estimated to have caused $15,000 in damages.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
