HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced the fourth annual Pacific Summer Transportation Education Program is accepting applications for 2024.

Open to students in grades 9 through 12 from the State of Hawaii and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the in-person summer program will run from June 17 to 28 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus, according to a news release.

The UHM College of Engineering organizes PAC-STEP through the Federal Highway Administration’s National Summer Transportation Institute Grant Initiative. Its goal is to introduce students to science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills through urban and regional planning and to widen their interest in transportation-related careers.

Interested students can submit their applications through April 10. HDOT highly encourages women, disadvantaged students and/or students of color interested in STEM fields to apply.

Students and parents can find out more information about the summer program on the UHM College of Engineering website.
