HONOLULU — Honolulu Hale is illuminated from sundown March 17 through sunrise on March 23 in recognition of Red Cross Month.
"Mayor Rick Blangiardi and the City and County of Honolulu are stalwart supporters of the American Red Cross of Hawaii and are profoundly appreciative of all the volunteers who generously dedicate their valuable time, energy and compassion to hep their neighbors in need," stated the City and County in a press release.
The American Red Cross of Hawaii team is made up of volunteers who serve the community by responding to disasters and caring for Hawaii residents during times of crisis. During "blue sky" days, Red Cross crews work to educate communities on how to be prepared for disasters and also provide life-saving training including CPR.
The annual Red Cross Celebraiton began in 1943 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued the first Red Cross Month Proclamation. To learn more about the American Red Cross visit redcross.org/local/hawaii.
