HONOLULU — To prepare the rail for upcoming testing activities, the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation announced the rails will undergo cleaning and grinding work starting Monday, March 18.

The work will occur along the second segment of the rail between the Aloha Stadium and Middle Street stations from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for about one week and will not impact current Skyline service.

HART officials say there may be noise and sparks from grinding while work is being done. Any sparks or rust flakes will remain “within the guideway area.”

Intermittent rolling single-lane road closures will be needed to facilitate the work.

HART urges motorists to look ahead and not overhead when driving near the rail guideway. Do not watch or photograph while driving and keep your attention on the road.
